This pen and ink 'stipple' drawing is made up entirely, 100%, of pen ink dots. The drawing took a total of 107 hours to complete. Based on 2 dots per second this drawing is made up of approximately 770,000 ink dots (possibly more, possibly less).

The drawing is taken from a photograph that I took of a sleeping swan at Abbotsbury Swannery in Dorset, UK. The swannery is spread over a site of some 25 acres and was established by Benedictine Monks who built a monastery at Abbotsbury during the 1040s. The monks farmed the swans to produce food for their lavish Dorset banquets.

The swan burying itself in its wing serves as a visual metaphor for the desire to not wanting to be a part of the madness we appear to often be involuntarily engulfed within, often by the 'system' and by those that have/seek power. Stop the World.

The title is also inspired by the song 'Stop the World' by The Clash.
